About Kim ColeS

〰 〰

Kim Coles is the heart behind Einstein's Angels, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing loving homes for senior dogs in their golden years. Based in Aiken, South Carolina, Kim brings a wealth of professional experience and a deep passion for animal welfare to her role.

More than just a career woman, Kim is a devoted dog lover with a particular soft spot for elderly canines. Over the years, she has opened her home to dozens of forgotten dogs, serving as a foster parent and advocate for those in need.

Driven by her love for senior dogs and her desire to make a difference, Kim founded Einstein's Angels in 2023. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing a haven for abandoned, abused, or neglected senior dogs.

At Einstein's Angels, we believe that every gray muzzle tells a story of loyalty, love, and life. We strive to ensure that the final chapters of these precious lives are filled with warmth, comfort, and compassion. Our goal is to transform empty food bowls into feasts, cold nights into cozy slumbers, and loneliness into loving care.

With your support, we can continue to show these loyal companions that their love wasn't in vain - that they still matter, still deserve joy, and are still cherished beyond measure. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of senior dogs and give them the golden years they truly deserve.

ABOUT EINSTEIN

〰️

If Kim is the heart of Einstein’s Angels, Einstein is the soul. The puppy was born in Phoenix, AZ in February 2005 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and a Pug dad. In April 2005, his human mom took him and his siblings to a Saturday night car show in Scottsdale, AZ to “sell them off.” They were a mere 8 weeks old. Many stopped by to pet the puppies, but one girl came by two or three times. Upon first glance, the puppy was smitten, but the girl was looking for a female puppy. Though she held his sister, the puppy knew he would see her again. The next day, a bright, silver truck pulled up to his front yard and the girl from last night was walking toward him, his sister, and their mom. While his sister cowered behind her mom, the puppy raced across the yard to the girl and jumped in her arms. The girl squealed and said, “OH MY GOSH! I GUESS I’M HAVING A BOY!” And that’s where the official story begins.

They got to their new apartment and played and played. Several hours later, they went out to meet the neighbor dogs who played in the park across the street. The puppy had been having so much fun with the girl, he forgot to go potty the entire time. So, when they got across the street, he took care of some much needed business. The girl said, “You are so smart, little boy! You’re like an Einstein!” Their names clicked and, forever more, he would be known as Einstein and she would be known as Mommy.

The pair traveled everywhere together and lived in Arizona, West Virginia, California, Montana, and then South Carolina. They climbed mountains, played on beaches, went on tons of walks, rolled in the snow, went to festivals, drove across the country 4 times, and visited friends in Arizona, Nevada, Florida, North Carolina, Missouri, and almost every state in between. They even traveled on a plane together once. (Awful experience for Kim, but Einstein was fine.)

Einstein had all kinds of brothers and sisters over the years - dogs, puppies, kittens, and fish - even though he was perfectly happy with it being just the two of them. There was Bandit, Hannah, Olive, Jesse and James, Kit A, Xena, Stella, Bacon and Eggs, Frynnie, and Jack. (Just the ones we can remember!) Plus, there were always aunts and cousins everywhere they went - Little Bit, Codie, Ruby, Jasmine, Holly, Bella, Charlie, Lizzie, Gucci, and many, many others. There was one Christmas where there were 11 dogs and only 7 people!

Their final long distance trip was from Montana to South Carolina in 2020 when Einstein’s grandparents retired there. Mommy found a house with a big yard for him and Frynnie, as well as bought a very convenient doggy door. Einstein had already started slowing down; his body, eyes, and ears just not the same. He became slower, lost some teeth, and seemed to stare into space quite frequently. But he always sought out his mom’s warm body to snuggle next to, or lay in the sunlight. He ate with gusto and, as always, tolerated his baths as much as the next dog.

On Sunday, April 24, 2022, Kim knew something wasn’t right with Einstein. By Tuesday, she knew he was in pain and wasn’t much longer for this world. So she cooked him a steak and let him pick his sleep spot in the bedroom. She shut everyone else out of the room, and laid down next to him. She held his paw and, with tears streaming down her cheeks, he heard her regale him with stories about their adventures over the past 17 years. She said over and over how much she loved him and that he was the best boy that ever lived.

On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Einstein crossed the rainbow bridge while being held in his mommy’s arms. Not a day goes by that she doesn’t miss him and she set up this non-profit to keep his memory alive.

Rest in peace, my sweet boy.
